Jeanne Shutter

March 25, 1932 — January 9, 2021

Madison:  Jeanne Lenore Shutter (86) passed away on January 9, 2021 and is now reunited with the love of her life and favorite dancing partner Richard (Dick).  Born on March 25, 1932, in Sparta, Wisconsin, Jeanne was the daughter of Beatrice and Stanley Hyland. She and Dick grew up in Tomah, Wisconsin and knew each other since the age of five.  They married at a young age and raised a family of four while Dick finished architecture school in Chicago.  Upon graduation they moved to Madison where they spent the rest of their lives.  They were married for 56 happy years until Dick passed away in 2008.

Jeanne is survived by her children Lance (Mary) Shutter, Hollie (Mark) Engman, Erica (Steve) Hill, and Kane (Kim) Shutter. She was also blessed with grandchildren Sedonna Shutter, Haley Legler, Marci Dubler and Collier Shutter and great grandchildren Stellan Shutter, Cian Shutter, and Micah Dubler. She is also survived by her brother John Hyland and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Both Dick and Jeanne were avid sports enthusiasts and never missed a game that their children competed or cheered in. Jeanne loved to read and shared her vast library with friends and family. She was also an accomplished bridge player and enjoyed the friendship and support of her many wonderful friends from Nakoma Golf Club.

There will be a celebration of her life at a later date.  The family would like to thank Agrace Hospice for their wonderful service and care in the last months of Jeanne’s life.
