Jeannie Meier

McFarland- Yun Soon "Jeannie" Meier, age 79, passed away on Saturday, May 18, 2013 at Agrace HospiceCare Center in Fitchburg. She was born on March 15, 1934 in a small farming village in South Korea. On October 20, 1960 Jeannie married Edward Meier. Together they relocated to the U.S. in 1962. For 17 years Jeannie provided food service to students in McFarland Schools. She loved being a "lunch lady." Jeannie enjoyed gardening, crocheting, crafting and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, Ed; three daughters, June (Mike Polkinghorn) Meier, Tina Meier and Fay (Robert) Bender; four grandchildren, Leslie, Kayla, Bobby and Sydney; great granddaughter, Jeri; and three sisters and their families in Korea. Jeannie was preceded in death by her parents, Manseok Joo and Sun Yi Kim; two sons, Robert and James; and a sister in Korea. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, May 23, 2013 at Cress Funeral Home in McFarland. Entombment will follow in Highland Memory Gardens. Friends and relatives are invited to a luncheon following the burial, at the McFarland American Legion. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Wednesday, May 22, 2013 and from 1:00 PM until the time of services Thursday at the funeral home.
