Madison/Springfield Corners - Jerome J. Diederich, 84, died on Sunday, Nov. 13, 2011 at Agrace HospiceCare Center in Fitchburg. He was born in Springfield Corners on February 16, 1927 to Felix and Elizabeth (Mueller) Diederich. He graduated from St. Martin's Grade School and operated the family farm until 1961 at which time he moved to Madison. Jerome was always known for driving Chevy Impalas and would only use John Deere farm equipment. He always enjoyed playing cards, especially solo, discussing farming and history, and going to Madison on Thurs. nights for dancing at Turner Hall. A highlight in his life was when he accompanied his niece on a trip to Europe in 1981. He frequently talked about the trip as one of his fondest memories.
Survivors include: two sisters, Marie Kessenich of Waunakee and Eileen Meicher of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Catherine and her husband Peter Miller, Lucille and her husband Roman Theis; brothers-in-law Joseph Kessenich and Leo Meicher; and a nephew Mark Theis.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, Nov 18, 2011 at 11:00 at St. Martins Catholic Church, 5959 St. Martin Circle, Cross Plains. Reverend Brian Dulli will officiate. Friends may call at the church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services. Burial will take place in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Agrace HospiceCare, Inc. or St. Martins Catholic Church.
