Jerry Mueller

Gerald Ronald Mueller, known fondly as “Jerry”, age 83, of Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 25, 2024. Born on July 20, 1941, in Blue Island, Illinois, Jerry was the son of Walde and Joann Mueller. At a young age, the family moved to Hustisford, Wisconsin, where they embraced life on “beautiful and historic Lake Sinnissippi.” Jerry graduated from Hustisford High School in 1959.

After graduating high school, Jerry attended the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater for a short 13 years all while gaining valuable experience working with the Dodge County Road Department. After college, he met his lifelong love, Judy. The couple married at St. Michael's Church in Hustisford and celebrated over 50 wonderful years together.

In 1983, Jerry and Judy moved to Sun Prairie, where they raised their two sons, Bryan and Scott. Jerry dedicated most of his career to the Wisconsin Association of Mutual Insurance Companies (WAMIC), retiring in 2006.

Jerry enjoyed cheering for the Packers and Badgers, watching the PGA Tour in between naps in his chair and feeding his birds and squirrels. He and his friends were always on the quest for the greatest hamburger in the world for frequent burger runs, often sharing laughter and the joy of camaraderie along the way. He firmly believed that “in the pursuit of happiness, one needs to keep searching” for the greatest hamburger in the world.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Walde and Joann; his brothers, Ken and Tom; and his granddaughter, Faith. He is survived by his devoted wife, Judy; sons Bryan (Vicki) and Scott (Carly); brother Russ and his cherished grandchildren, Mitchell, Ella, Matthew, Eily, Andrew, Laney, and Isaiah. 

A celebration of Jerry’s life will be held at 12:00 p.m. (noon) on Monday, November 4, 2024 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church, 550 Lincoln Drive, Sun Prairie. Gathering at the church will be from 10 a.m.-12:00 p.m. Following services, family and friends are welcome to gather at 1:00 p.m. at Buck and Honey’s, 804 Liberty Blvd in Sun Prairie. 

The family extends a deep thank you to Agrace Hospice Care for their compassion and care, the family of caregivers at the Koselig House in Deforest WI, Dr. Kass from SSM Health, and Wayne from Our Savior’s Lutheran Church. We also want to express a deep sense of gratitude for all the special friends who came to visit Jerry over the years and the daily phone calls from friend and neighbor, Dave H. These visits and phone calls not only meant so much to Jerry but also his family. 

Jerry will be deeply missed, but we know the Lord has blessed him with the legs of a young 17 year old and a continued search for the best hamburger in Heaven. He is also in Heaven right now telling us the same thing he ended all of his visits and conversations with: “Love Ya!”
