Marshall - Jimmie Oliver Beasley, age 76 passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 11, 2015. He was born on May 16, 1938, the son of Fred and Alvirda Vandegriff in Lincoln, Nebraska. Jimmie proudly served in the United States Navy from 1956-1959 and was an Atomic Vet having been present in the atomic testing in the Pacific Ocean. For 18 years, Jimmie worked for the Village of Marshall and then went on to working for Covance for 22 years until his retirement in 2001. On July 5, 1980, Jimmie was united in marriage to Vicki Rae Riddle on a warm summer day in the Village of Marshall. He loved to keep busy and was very talented with his hands. He enjoyed leather working, putting together model rockets, trains and wood working. Jimmie also enjoyed the outdoors hunting and salmon fishing with his son and grandsons. He had a passion for food, loved grilling and most of all, loved Vicki's wonderful cooking. Jimmie liked to travel and cherished the spontaneous day and weekend trips he would take with his wife, Vicki. One of his most memorable trips was when he was on his honeymoon with Vicki and they toured the Badlands. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Jimmie is survived by his wife of 35 years; Vicki Beasley, his five children; Charlette (Kevin) Mueller, Debra (Gary Sr) Gilmore, Fred Beasely, Jimmie Bealsey Jr., and Eric (Kristen) Beasley, eight grandchildren; Alan (Kama) Duessler, Warrant Officer Nathen (Jennifer) Duessler, Cassandra (Steven) Gorecki, September Gilmore, Gary Gilmore Jr., David Mueller, Collin Beasley and Jacob Beasley, seven great grandchildren and his four legged companions, Peaches and Peanut. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other loving family and friends.
Jimmie was preceded in death by his parents.
A celebration of his life will be held at CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 3325 E. Washington Ave., on Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at 3:00 pm with Pastor Paul Anderson officiating. A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday from 1:00pm until the time of services.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Weiss and the entire staff at Meriter Hospital for all their care and comfort that you had given to Jimmie and our family.
