McFarland- Joan M. Blackney passed away on August 3, 2014 of Alzheimer's disease. She was born on August 21, 1932 in Clyman. Joan graduated from Watertown High School in 1950, and moved to Madison. She met and married Ted Blackney in 1956. Together they owned and operated a well-known Madison restaurant "Taco Grande" for 20 years. Joan loved WI sports and loved to plan tailgate parties for Brewer games in the 1980's. She also held season tickets for Badger Hockey for 20 years. Joan was an avid WWII buff and did extensive reading about it. Her most cherished pastime was genealogy. Joan spent decades successfully searching for her and Ted's family. Joan is survived by her children, Scott (Kim) of McFarland, Todd (Kathy) of PA and Staci (Craig) Wallace of McFarland; two grandchildren, Anna and Jessica, both of PA; and two sisters, Delores and Shirley. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ted, in 1979; and son, Tim, in 2009. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at Christ the King Catholic Church, McFarland, with Fr. D. Stephen Smith officiating. Entombment will follow in Resurrection Mausoleum in Madison. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Monday, August 11, 2014 at Cress Funeral Home in McFarland, and from 10:00 AM until the time of services Tuesday at church.
