Joan Buel

West Bend-Joan Buel, age 89, found peace on June 30, 2012 at Badger Prairie Health Care Center in Verona, WI.
Joan was born April 11, 1923 Pittsburgh, PA to Norwegian immigrants, Karl R. and Anna (Bakkelid) Hammerstrom. She was a graduate of The University of Wisconsin. Joan married the love of her life Robert Jay Buel, Lieutenant, USMC in Los Angeles, CA in 1945. She was very proud and supportive of her husband's football success. Joan cherished her family and friends and will be fondly remembered and dearly missed.
She loved caring for plants, cooking and hosting gatherings especially holidays when she could be surrounded by family and friends. Joan enjoyed time outdoors, birds, animals and traveling. She had a passion for listening to Frank Sinatra and the Badger Band.
Joan is survived by her daughters, Linda Buel of Middleton and Barbara Buel of Chicago, IL; a sister, Ruth Fredrich of San Francisco; two nephews, John Fredrich of Palo Atto, CA and Fred Fredrich and family of Mill Valley, CA; cherished friends, Jim and Sandy Cahoon and their loving family of West Bend. She is preceded in death by her husband and parents.
A memorial service will be held at Wisconsin Memorial Park, Brookfield at a later date.
