Joan Keller

Joan “Jo” Marie Keller (Benash), age 85, of Madison/Waunakee, died on Thursday, February 24, 2022, at Waunakee Manor.

She was born September 29th, 1936, the daughter of Floyd and Rachel Benash. She graduated from Central High School in 1954. She became a Licensed Practical Nurse in 1956. She married Martin (Marty) Keller Jr. in 1957.

Jo is survived by her husband of almost 65 years, Marty; daughters, Chris (Dan) Plendl, Sheri Keller, and Lori (Ken) Prieur. She is also survived by 2 grandsons and 5 great-grandchildren, Matt (Shawna) Plendl and children Dylan & Brooks; Josh (Naomi) Plendl and children Charlotte, Caleb & Grace.

She is further survived by many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Floyd Jr. (“Bud”); and half-sisters, Mary and Caroline; and other extended family members.

Jo was an avid bowler (with 2 perfect 300 games) and enjoyed knitting, crocheting, playing cards, camping, traveling, singing in the church choir and spending time with family. Jo loved her Packers, Badgers, and Brewers.

A memorial service will be held at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 209 South St. in Waunakee, on Thursday, March 3rd at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be from 9:30-11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Church Cemetery in Pine Bluff immediately following the service. There will be no formal luncheon. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be designated by the family.
