JoAn M. O'Brien (Trauba) died on October 26, 2010 surrounded by her loving family at her home in Waunakee, after a long courageous battle with COPD and Alzheimer's. JoAn was born in Wausau, WI on August 23, 1932 to the late Charles and Regina Trauba. JoAn later moved to Chippewa Falls, WI where she spent much of her early life. She was a graduate of St. Mary's Nursing School in Rochester Minnesota in 1952 and later in life she received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing. In 1961 she moved to Madison, WI with her husband where she raised her three children and in 1976 she moved to Waunakee, WI where she spent the remainder of her life enjoying her backyard pool to the very end. JoAn spent many years as a private duty nurse in Madison before moving to nursing and business administration at Bio-Resources. She ended her career as the Public Health Nurse at Hazelton/Covance in Madison.  She is survived by her three children; Terry, Michele and Tim (Luigi Zappa) and six grandchildren; Jennifer (Patrick) Fitzgibbon-Miller, Aaron O'Brien, Laura and Sara Pollock, and Angela Lesch (Michael) and their son Mason and Anney Fare Nuval (R Joseph Nuval). She is also survived by her loving spouse, companion and caretaker Denny O'Brien. She will be deeply missed by her Brothers Robert and Richard (Mary) Trauba, sister-in- law Doris Trauba and numerous other nieces, nephews and loving family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her Brother Charles Trauba of Chippewa Falls, WI.   A Mass of Christian Burial for JoAn will be held at 11 am on Friday October 29, 2010 at  St. Mary Of The Lake Catholic Church, 5460 Mary Lake Rd. Westport-Waunakee with Msgr. James Gunn Presiding. There will be a Rosary Service at 9:30 a. m. followed by a visitation until the time of service at the church  In lieu of Flowers please send donation in the name of JoAn O'Brien to The Wisconsin Alzheimer's Institute, UW School of Medicine and Public Health, 7818 Big Sky Drive, Suite 215, Madison, WI 53719 and/or Hospice Care of Southern WI.
