Joan Snell

MADISON - Joan Maglio Snell - born May 17, 1959 - passed away unexpectedly on March 2, 2016, from an apparent heart attack.
Joanie was everyone's best friend. All who knew her praised her kindness, generosity, and love for everyone. She was always conscious of the people around her and willing to offer advice and support. With her contagious smile, she had the gift of walking into a room of strangers and leaving with good friends. Growing up in Madison, she knew her way around social groups, including anyone who is familiar with the well-known Italian restaurant Lombardino's, which her parents owned for a majority of her childhood. Her athletic abilities are also renowned throughout the circles of Edgewood High School and UW-Whitewater. She was a proud alum of the University of Wisconsin - Madison and an avid Badger and Packer fan.
Joanie, the glue that held her entire extended family together, is survived by her husband Kevin; daughter Kathryn; son Daniel; father, Ted Maglio, Sr.; and her six siblings: Dianne (JT) Terry, Ted (Sarah) Maglio, Tom (Paula) Maglio, Mary Kay (Jeff) Hermanson, Tony (Beth) Maglio, and Tim (Lynn) Maglio. She was also a beloved aunt to numerous nephews and nieces. Joanie's family was the highlight of her life, and she was so proud of her children. She will be greatly missed by many.
She is preceded in death by her mom Jean Doyle Maglio, mother-in-law Margaret Mary Snell, father-in-law Ken Snell, brother-in-law JT Terry, and nephew PJ Snell.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 AM on Monday March 7, 2016 at GOOD SHEPHERD PARISH AT ST. JAMES CATHOLIC CHURCH, 1128 St. James Ct. Madison with Msgr. Thomas F. Baxter presiding. Burial will be at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery. A Visitation will take place at from 1:00 PM until 5:00 PM on Sunday March 6, 2016 at Cress Funeral Home, 3610 Speedway Road, Madison, and also from 10:00 AM until the time of the Mass on Monday at the Church.
