MADISON- Joanna Manson Mandt, age 80, died peacefully, surrounded by her family, on March 3, 2018 at Agrace Hospice in Fitchburg.
She was the daughter of Fritz and Dorothy Manson, born on September 6, 1937 and grew up in Wausau, WI. Joanna graduated from Wayland Academy and UW-Madison. She taught for over 20 years as an elementary school teacher for the Madison School District. Joanna married Matthew "Bud" Mandt in August of 1966 at her childhood home designed by Frank Lloyd Wright.
Joanna was an excellent cook and an avid shopper. She took pleasure in art, gardening, and a glass of good red wine. She enjoyed traveling, reading novels, and decorating for the holidays. She loved her coffee groups and lunches with friends. Joanna cheered for the Badgers and she and Bud watched countless basketball games together. Most importantly, Joanna's favorite times were those spent with her family.
Joanna is survived by her husband of 51 years; daughters Christina Ross (John) and Susannah Jackson (Kerry); her four grandchildren Ben, Sam, Kadence, and Chase; her brother-in-law Howard Kidd; several nieces and nephews; and so many cherished friendships. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Mary.
A service honoring Joanna's life will be held at Cress Funeral Home, 3610 Speedway Madison, WI on Friday, April 13, 2018 at noon.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in Joanna's name to the UW Carbone Cancer Center or Agrace Hospice in Fitchburg.
