Joanne Silvera Thuesen, age 88, of Madison, WI died peacefully on Monday, March 4th, 2024 at Agrace Hospice surrounded by family praying the rosary at the time of her passing.
She was born in Madison, WI on January 2, 1936 to Ernest and Mildred Jackson. She was the oldest of 4 children. She attended St James grade school and graduated Edgewood High School in 1954. After High School she attended the University of Wisconsin School of Nursing and graduated in 1959. She became the head nurse of the surgical floor at UW hospital. On November 14, 1964 she married John J.P. Thuesen. Together they had 3 children, Jane, James, and John.
Joanne loved spending time with her family. The highlight of every year was a family vacation in the summer with her husband and children. She loved her family and enjoyed taking care of her 6 grandchildren. She also loved going to garage sales with her relatives every Friday.
Joanne is survived by her children, Jane Olson (Thomas Churchill), James Thuesen (Tanya Thuesen), John Thuesen (Laurel Redmon); grandchildren, Carissa Hilscher (Kellan Hilscher), Christopher Olson (Rachel Slaby), Johana Thuesen, Brian Olson, Eric Thuesen, Anika Thuesen; great grandchildren, Aubrey Hilscher, Noah Hilscher; siblings, Lois Pfister (Jerry Pfister), Judy Brown, Michael Jackson (Nancy Jackson). She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 401 S. Owen Dr., Madison, on Saturday, March 16, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. A rosary service will be at the church at 9:45 AM and a visitation at 10:00 A.M. Burial at Resurrection Cemetery will immediately follow the Mass, and lunch will be served following the burial at Our Lady Queen of Peace.
