John Joseph Brausen, age 86, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Sunday, July 10, 2011. He was born the son of John A. and Carrie (Billig) Brausen on July 3, 1925 in Madison. He was a graduate of Central High School in Madison, and proudly served his country as a SGT. in the US Army Air Corp in the 41st Bombarment Squadron from 1943 until 1946. After his discharge from the US Army John married the love of his life and High School Sweetheart, Teresa Raimond on July 6, 1946. They had just celebrated their 65th anniversary last week. John was a 1950 graduate of the University of Wisconsin, Madison, and was employed in the insurance business, and served as V.P. of Madison National Life. He was an avid Badger, Packer, and Brewer Fan. John was a member of the Elks Club and Queen of Peace Catholic Church. John is survived by his devoted wife of 65 years, Teresa, his loving children; Suzanne Brausen, New Orleans, LA, Steve Brausen, Summerville, SC, Mary Brausen, Minneapolis MN, James (Brigid) Brausen, Belvidere IL, Teresa (Eric) Bailey, Roseville MN, John (Janna) Brausen, Oregon, WI, cherished grandchildren, Joseph Bailey, Ryan Bailey and Zachary Bailey, Roseville, MN, Elena Brausen, New Orleans, LA, Jamie Brausen, Jackie Brausen, Mary Claire Schibelka, and Megan Schibelka, Belvidere, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents, infant daughter Sharon Brausen, and his in-laws, Tony and Providence (Mandarino) Raimondo. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, July 14, 2011 at OUR LADY QUEEN OF PEACE CATHOLIC CHURCH, 401 S. Owen Dr., Madison, WI 53711, with visitation from 10 am until the time of service at the church. Entombment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery. A memorial fund is being established.
