Waunakee -- John E. Buggy, passed away peacefully on Wed Aug 18, 2010 at the Hospice Care center in Fitchburg. John was born in Burlington, Iowa to John and Helene (Champagne) Buggy. He was raised in Chicago and served in the 3rd Army, 6th Armored Division during World War II, participating in numerous battles in the European Theatre. Upon his discharge from the Army he returned to Chicago and earned a bachelors degree in business from DePaul University. In 1951 he married Jeane Barry, the love of his life. They would have been married 59 years on Sept 8, 2010. In 1964 John and Jeane moved to Madison where John began a 32 year career with Capitol Indemnity Corporation, retiring as a Senior Vice-President. John was a lifelong Chicago Cubs fan and a voracious reader, a book always close at hand. In retirement, John and Jeane traveled extensively. He was happiest when surrounded by his wife, children and grandchildren. Survivors include his wife Jeane; five children; Jack (Mitzi) of Cross Plains, Michael (Monika) of LaCrosse, Patrick (Kim) of Haymarket, Virginia, Kathleen (Rick) Schoepp of Waunakee and Susan (Pat) Connors of Waunakee; eight grandchildren Katlyn and Sara Buggy, John and Lily Buggy, Hunter and Cole Schoepp and Kyle and Will Connors; his sisters-in-law Nancy Buggy of Simsbury,CT and Laura Barry of Bradenton,FL and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Eugene and Richard and his sister Betty. Friends may call on Monday Aug. 23, 2010 at the Winn-Cress Funeral Home 5785 Hwy Q Waunakee from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. A private family service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Don and Marilyn Anderson Hospice Care Center 5395 E. Cheryl Parkway, Madison, WI or St Maria Goretti Catholic Church 5313 Flad Ave, Madison, WI.
