John H. Carter

Madison - John Henry Carter, age 66, died on Thursday, June 25, 2009, at St. Mary's Hospital Madison.  He was born on March 18, 1943 in Rockford, IL, the son of Henry and Ollie (Davidson) Carter. John served in the Navy during the Vietnam War. He was united in marriage to Deborah Duncan on September 4, 1981 in Madison. John was a bus driver for Madison Metro for over 24 years. He enjoyed spending time with his family and was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend.

John is survived by his wife, Deborah Carter; his children, Chris Oliver, Yalanda (Shaun) Daniels, Amy Carter, Brandie Carter and Shauntay Carter; 11 grandchildren, Tyler, Dejuenae, Titus, Alize', Elijah, Shaun, Vonte' Tiarra, Cashius, Jasmine and Shaundell; a sister, Lenora Carter-Thomas; many nieces, nephews, friends and other extend family that he loved so much.

John was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Hattie Carter-Roth and Gwendolyn Elvord and a nephew, Steven Miller.

Funeral services will be held at CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 3325 E. Washington Avenue, on Tuesday, June 30, 2009, at 6:00 p.m. A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, June 30, 2009 from 4:00 p.m. until time of services.
