Fitchburg - John Clementi Sr, age 76 of Fitchburg, passed away November 5, 2017 at home surrounded by his family. He was born on April 16, 1941 in Madison to Joseph and Lorraine (Faust) Clementi. His family lived in the Greenbush area where John attended St. Joseph grade school. He attended Central High School where he graduated class of 1959. On October 22, 1960, John married the love of his life, Charleen A. Ackerman. John worked for his dad at the family filling station business on Regent Street until it was sold. Then worked with his dad at the Badger Tavern on University Avenue, Madison for several years. He then launched his own business, Clementi's Lounge and Restaurant in Monona. The last several years he worked for the Madison Metropolitan School District where he retired. As an avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing, deer, pheasant and duck hunting. He loved training his dogs to hunt. He also enjoyed trap shooting. For several years he was a member of Hope, Rod and Gun Club and Oregon Sportsmen Club. At one of the many shoots that John participated in, he won the President's Cup for his great shooting.
He is survived by his wife, Charleen; his children, John Jr (Lora) of McFarland, Joseph of Fitchburg and Cheryl (Larry) Langman of Waukesha; his grandchildren, Tyler and Samuel Clementi and Chase Langman; his siblings, Joseph "Butch" Clementi of California and Lorrie (David) Manning of Cottage Grove; other special relatives, Uncle Bill and Aunt Dorothy Faust of Oregon, Aunt Jennie Clementi of Madison, and Nephew Joseph Clementi of Nebraska. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends, including his special coffee clutch group. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Anthony Clementi.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 10, 2017 at HOLY MOTHER OF CONSOLATION CATHOLIC CHURCH, 651 N. Main Street, Oregon, WI, with Father Gary Wankerl presiding. A visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the church. Private burial will be held.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
