WAUNAKEE-John H. Cupp, 77, of Waunakee died unexpectedly on Wednesday, Apr. 20, 2016, in Madison. He was born on February 23, 1939, in Richland Center to Marion and Doretta (Glick) Cupp. He married the late Karron Davis on July 11, 1964, and lived in Madison for a short stint and resided in Waunakee for the duration of his life.
He worked for Datex-Ohmeda for 34 years before his retirement. He spent much of his time in retirement hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, camping on the Mississippi River and playing in the pool with his children and grandchildren. Since 1993, John shared his life with long-time companion, Janice Schnabel. He's often remembered telling stories around the campfire about the good ol' days. He was a man with a big heart, larger than life. You couldn't help, but love the guy. He became dad-like to his sons' friends and treated each of them as if they were his own. He was always quick with a smart comment so that all would feel welcome.
He is survived by his long-time companion, Janice Schnabel; sons, Michael and Rodney (Wendy); granddaughters, Marina and Presley, whom he loved dearly and enjoyed spending time teaching them the lay of the land; brothers, Clarence and Earl (Virginia); many nieces and nephews; and Janice Schnabel's children, Tom, Carol (Randy) and Karen; and grandchildren, Tina, Travis, Eric, Ashlee and Nico. John was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Karron; brother, Charles (Alice); and nephew, Dean.
