John Capacio

Fitchburg - John Edward Capacio joined the cosmic collective on Saturday, July 10, 2021 after a months-long battle with cancer. He was born July 13, 1953, in Madison, WI to George (Joe) Capacio and Fae (Wells) Capacio.

John was a Madison resident for all but one year in exile in Janesville. He attended Madison Central High School until it closed, then graduated from Madison Memorial High School. He went on to UW Madison where he majored in partying. Eventually, he got his business degree from Madison Business College.

After short stints as the stock room clerk and manager for the Bank of Madison and a buyer for Ohio Medical Products, he went to work for Madison Gas and Electric as a purchasing assistant in 1979 and stayed for the remainder of his working years. He retired as the inventory manager in 2015.

During his time at MGE he met his future wife, Lenore Donohue, who he married later that same year. They welcomed their daughter, Lindsay, the year after that. John and Lenore spent the next 35 years together in one way or another.

John enjoyed motorcycling in his younger days and bicycling in his later years. He was a lifelong Packers and UW Badgers fan. While never a great at it, he enjoyed bowling from his teens to his dotage. He loved to travel with his wife, taking several long road trips to the American west after they retired. At the end of the day, though, John was never happier than when he was dozing off in his chair, TV on in the background and his cats on his lap.

John was preceded in death by his parents and his wife. He is survived by his daughter Lindsay (Los Angeles, CA), brother Dennis Capacio (Cambridge), sister Paulette Klein (Madison), and his cats JC and Jackson.

There will be a private viewing prior to John’s cremation, and a celebration of his life will be scheduled at a future date.
