Stoughton – John Lee Gore was born in Marysville, CA. on March 16, 1954. He passed away at home in Stoughton surrounded by his family after a brief illness. John graduated High School in 1972. Following high school he went into the Marine Corp. He also was in the Army, Army National Guard. He retired with 27 years serving his country proudly. He met Deanna who was in the Army also in Germany. They were married on February 25, 1982.
He retired from Madison Kipp in 2014.
John is survived by his wife Dee; sons John (Annette), Joshua (Colleen); brothers Jim Gore of Arizona, Tom Gore of North Carolina, Steven Gore of Oklahoma and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents Robert Myron Gore and Margaret Nellie Kennedy; brothers Bob, Bill, Bruce and Don; sisters Pauline and Doris; and his stepmother Maria Gore.
John was always lending a helping hand where he could. Loved sharing knowledge on many different topics, sharing stories and jokes with people.
He also had a great singing voice, while out to eat with his son he would teach them history lessons with humor. He loved to grill out especially on New Years Day, golfing with friends, and going ziplining.
He was a member of the Stoughton Conservation Club; he was a lifetime member. He spent countless hours there on maintenance at the rifle range and on the grounds at SCC. All volunteer work, one of his favorite sayings was “I’ll pay you double of what I get… nothing times nothing, you still get nothing.”
He couldn’t wait to help with the sight in clinic. Most of all he enjoyed the camaraderie and shooting. We truly appreciated all the love and support during this difficult time, especially to Cassie and Linda from Hospice, and all his dear friends.
There will be a Celebration of Life on Sunday October 13, 2024, from 2-5 PM at the Stoughton Conservation Club, 948 Collins Rd, Stoughton, WI 53589.
