John E. Hamilton

July 7, 1935 — February 20, 2010

Stoughton- John E. Hamilton, age 74, passed away on Saturday, February 20, 2010.  He was born in Elmhurst, IL on July 7, 1935, the son of Clayton and Helen (Mickelson) Hamilton.  John graduated from York High School in 1953.  He was drafted into the U.S. Army and served from 1958 until 1960 when he was honorably discharged with a rank of Sergeant E5.  John was very involved in Boy Scouts, achieving the rank of Life Scout.  In leadership roles from 1970 until 1976 he served as Scout Master, District Commissioner and Vice Chairman of Cub Scouts.  John received the District Award of Merit.  He has been a member of the National Corvette Restorers Society since 1973.  On June 17, 1967 John married Charlotte Egger Malcook.  John was a member of First Lutheran Church.  He is survived by his wife, Charlotte; step son, Randy Malcook; and brother, Robert (Darlene) Hamilton of Dunn, North Carolina.  John was preceded in death by his mother; and step daughter, Theresa Malcook.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, February 25, 2010 at First Lutheran Church, 310 E. Washington Street, Stoughton, with Rev. Richard Halom officiating.  Burial will follow in the Town of Dunn Burying Grounds.  Friends and relatives are invited to a luncheon at the church immediately following the burial.  Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Wednesday, February 24, 2010 at Olson-Holzhuter-Cress Funeral Home and from 10:00 AM until the time of services at church Thursday.  Memorials may be made to the American Diabetic Association or to the charity of the donor's choice.  A special thank you to Dr. Agni and the staffs of Skaalen Home and Stoughton Hospital.
