John C. Hartman

June 17, 1937 — March 26, 2010

John C. Hartman, age 72, passed away after a long, courageous battle with cancer at his home in Stoughton on Friday, March 26, 2010.   He was born in Chicago on June 17, 1937, a son of Charles and Kathleen (Doyle) Hartman.   John served his country in the Air Force.   On June 19, 1991, he married his best friend and soul mate, Kristin Furseth in Las Vegas.   John learned the printing trade in Chicago, and moved his family to Wisconsin, where he operated Milton Printers until 1985.   He continued his printing career at Bethel Lutheran Church until his retirement in 1992.   John enjoyed trips the casino and to visit family, riding in the countryside and watching Westerns and War Movies.   He is survived by his wife, Kristin; 2 daughters, Tammy (Zip) Chittendon, and Ginny (Bryan) Little; a son, John Hartman; 4 grandchildren, Danielle (Zack) Thomas, Taylor Chittendon, Randi Rae Little, and Dakota Cody' Little; a great-grandson, Dallas Thomas; many brothers and sisters, nieces nephews; and 2 special nephews who took such good care of him during his illness, Jerry and David Leikness.   John was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Daniel; 2 sisters, Gladys and Kathleen; and his mother and father-in-law, Ferol and Matthew Furseth.   A memorial service will be held on Thursday, April 1, 2010 at 11:00 am at the Olson-Holzhuter-Cress Funeral Home in Stoughton.   The family will greet friends at the funeral home from 10:00 am until the time of services.   Military rites at the funeral home, and a luncheon at the Maple Tree Restaurant in McFarland will follow services.
