John Frederick Ney

Sun Prairie-John Frederick Ney, age 78, died on Thursday, July 8, 2010 at the HospiceCare Center, Fitchburg. He was born on Aug 27, 1931 in Dubuque, IA, the youngest child of Albert & Frances (Harris) Ney. Jack graduated from Dubuque Senior High School and Iowa State Teachers College. He was a high school teacher and a school district business manager. He served in the U.S. Army from 1952-1954. Jack will be remembered for his keen sense of humor, his generosity, his interest in baseball and college sports, but most of all, his love for his family. Jack is survived by his children, Vicky (Merlin) Everson, Rhonda (Larry) Olson, Paula Drake and Eric Ney; his grandchildren, Amanda, Adam, Kala, Ryan, Makenzie, Jackie, Erika, Jessika and Logan John; his former wife Betty Ney; his former daughter-in-law, Karen Ney; his former son-in-law, Allan Drake. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, dear co-workers at the Superior School District, and Regency Place friends. He will be missed at Wal-Mart. Jack was preceded in death by his son, Todd, his parents, and his siblings. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, July 15, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at the Cress Funeral Home, 1310 Emerald Terrace, Sun Prairie. A time of gathering will be held on Thursday at the funeral home from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service. Jack's final resting place will be Linwood Cemetery in Dubuque, IA. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to HOPES (Helping Other Prevent & Educate about Suicide).
