John Norton

McFarland- John C. Norton II, age 70, lifetime Madison area resident, decorated Army veteran, loving husband, brother, father and grandfather, passed away on Saturday, July 29, 2017. He was born on August 4, 1946, the son of John and Rita Norton. John graduated from East High School in 1965. He proudly served his country in the US Army, from 1966 to 1967 during Vietnam, and received a Purple Heart and Bronze Star. On December 11, 1971 John was united in marriage to Linda Jackson. He worked for the State Department of Agriculture for 26 years and retired as a Bureau Director in 2002. John was devoted to his family and spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by the love of his life, wife of 45 years Linda; sons, Randy (Kim) and John (Kristin); four loving grandchildren, Elizabeth, Georgia, Taylor and Johnny; and his faithful canine companion Lily. John is further survived by his mother-in-law, Lorraine Jackson; brother-in-law, Rick (Marion) Jackson and family; sisters-in-law, Sue Jackson and family, Kathy Moen and family; and others. He was preceded in death by his parents. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM on Thursday, August 3, 2017 at Cress Funeral Home in McFarland.
