Cottage Grove - John W. Ohlson, age 75, passed away on Tuesday, June 2, 2015 at UW Hospital in Madison. He was born in Chicago, IL on May 22, 1940 the son of Walter and Edith (Matter) Ohlson. John attended Epheta School for the deaf in Chicago and St. Rita's School for the deaf in Cincinnati, Ohio. He then attended Lane Technical Boys High School in Chicago. John worked for US Post Office in Madison for many years.
John's life was devoted to family, enjoying home cooked meals with his siblings, nieces and nephews. He took great pride in being our family historian, never forgetting names, dates, and events. John avidly studied world events informing us of the latest news, followed by his definite opinions. Everyone who knew John smiled at his knowledge and concern for God's animal kingdom and nature, this was John's vocation.
Our lives will be forever enriched by our brother, John. We will always be in your debt for your loyal care to our parents. Say hello to Father and Mother... you now have a voice to speak.
He is survived by his sisters and brothers, Marian Rivera, Christine (Peter) Rademacher, Lucia (James) Smith, brothers, Peter Ohlson, Martin (Sheila) Ohlson, and Daniel Ohlson; many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
John was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Janice.
A funeral service will be held at CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 1310 Emerald Terrace, Sun Prairie, on Saturday, June 6, 2015 at 12:00 noon with Father Michael Tarigopula presiding. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens in Madison. A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
