John Preston

McFarland- John Charles Preston, age 33, passed away unexpectedly of natural causes on Saturday, September 17, 2016 at his home in Fitchburg. John was born on October 21, 1982 to Dennis and Christine Preston. He grew up in McFarland and graduated from McFarland High School in 2001. John attended UW Whitewater from 2001-2004. He was employed as a steam fitter with H&H Industries and was taking night classes for additional certifications. John loved WI sports, was involved with a golf league, pool league and a hockey league and enjoyed his weekends boating and being with his son Jack. He was a dedicated father and wonderful son and brother who was always there to help, especially after his father passed in 2004. John is survived by his cherished son Jackson; his mother, Christine Preston; his sister, Lindsay (Nate) Brown; his nephews, Gavin and Elliot Brown. John is further survived by his close cousin, Jillian (Chris) Koch and her sons Jadyn and Carsen; his uncle, Ron Preston and his honorary uncle Richard Petersen-Stellish; his aunts, Charlene Reimer and Margaret Gregory; cousins, Johanna (Brian) Ross, Jake Scent, Kristen and Alison Preston, Lauren (Jake) Petersen and Mike (Becky) Gregory and Justin, Chris, Michael and Zach Barrett. He was preceded in death by his father, Dennis Preston; his aunts, Kathleen Reimer and Donna Martin; his uncle, Todd Harshbarger; and his beloved golden retriever, Oakley. The family is planning a Celebration of Life to be held at the McFarland Lutheran Church. Memorials for John can be directed to Christine Preston for John's son Jack.
