John M. Richgels, 72, of Middleton, WI, passed away at home on July 21, 2022. He was born on September 30, 1949, in Highland, WI, the son of Melvin and Leora (Drager) Richgels. He married Linda Skyler on June 13, 1994, in Rockford, IL.
John graduated from Middleton High School in 1967. He worked as a machinist at Springs Window Fashions for many years and later as a delivery driver for Eannelli Pharmacy. He enjoyed fly fishing and tying flies. He loved to travel throughout Wisconsin, visiting new towns and local points of interest. He was a foodie, always interested in trying new foods and recipes.
John was a strong and steady presence, was quick with a smile, and had a terrific sense of humor. He believed in learning from his mistakes and was nonjudgmental and encouraging. John was very active in his recovery community, where he led by example and helped countless people find happiness and health. He had a large group of friends, always remembering their birthdays and anniversaries.
He is survived by his son Travis; sisters Leone, Jane, Betty, Donna, and Kathy; brothers Jim (and Janine) and Ken; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Robert and David, sister Mary, and wife Linda.
John is greatly missed. We were blessed to have him in our lives. There was a private funeral ceremony. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
