John Smith

June 27, 1934 — March 21, 2017

MADISON- John Raymond Smith, age 82 of Madison passed away on Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at Lighthouse Retirement Center. He was born June 27, 1934 in Fond du Lac, the son of Viola and Chester Smith. He married Joan Kathleen Campbell on April 27, 1957 in Ashippun.

John was an active member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, where participated in Meals on Wheels. He was on the board of directors for Options of Madison. He loved hunting and fishing and spending time outdoors. He was an avid wood carver, loved traveling and spending winters in the south. John excelled in snow sculpting, he was a snowman expert and showed off his talents by carving Snoopy on top of the dog house year after year. He was the best grandfather that ever lived!

John is survived by his wife, Joan; sons, Jeff (Liz) and Terry; grandchildren, Nicole (Allen) Ballweg and David; and brothers, Jim (Sharon) and Steve (JoAnne).

A memorial service will be held at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, 1833 Regent St, Madison on Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at 5:30 p.m. A visitation will be held on Tuesday at church from 4:00 p.m. until the time of service.
In lieu of flowers, please make memorials in John's name to Agrace HospiceCare.
