John E. Spahr
John E. ""Jack"" Spahr, age 75, passed away suddenly on January 8, 2010. He was born in Kenosha on October 12, 1934 the son of the late Oscar and Cecelia (Kaether) Spahr. Jack was a life-long Madison resident. He graduated from Edgewood High School, Class of '52. Jack served his country with the Army during the Korean Conflict, and was a Purple Heart recipient. After returning from service he began his 30-year career as a Letter Carrier with the United States Postal Service until his retirement. He was united in marriage to Margaret Berg on May 23, 1964 in Madison. Jack was an avid bowler and Packer Fan, and enjoyed golfing and playing ball with his grandsons.
Jack is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Maggie; daughters, Karen Spahr of Savannah, GA, Nancy (Scott) Kimsey of Columbus, GA, and Rachel Spahr of Madison; grandsons, Rocky and Roland Kimsey; brother, Tom (Kathy) Spahr of Milford, DE; sisters-in-law, Joan Spahr of Wauwatosa, WI, and Dolores (Otto) Dalstrom of Twin Lakes, WI. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Rollie Spahr.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at the St. Dennis Catholic Church, 505 Dempsey Road, Madison with Father Lance J. Schneider presiding. Family will greet friends on Tuesday, January 12, 2010, at the Cress Funeral Home, 3325 E. Washington Ave., Madison, from 4 pm until 7 pm, with a prayer service at 6:30 pm. An additional visitation will be held on Wednesday, at church, from 10:30 am until the time of service. Interment will be in Sunset Memory Gardens, Madison.
