John Sveum, age 63, died Thursday, July 2nd, 2009, at home.  John was born on July 11th, 1945 in the Kittelson farmhouse in Vermont Township to parents Endelien and Norman Sveum. He graduated from Waunakee High School in 1963. Pursued after graduation by a minor league division of the Red Sox Baseball Organization, John modestly chose to stay close to home. His love for baseball boomed on in his heart always. John showcased his love of life and the land in all the days he walked the earth. As he walks on in his days now with the Lord we remember them with fondness and laughter. John's many colorful careers included witty sportscaster, dazzling and entertaining radio DJ, award winning, brilliant and versatile Voice Talent for WM/FM, zany actor on Lenny's Inferno late night movie theater (including the infamous Voice in the Box), truly, talented and artistic cabinetmaker/carpenter, and longtime building caretaker of Wingra (Dudgeon) School in Madison. John found solitude and comfort in things that made noise, from tractors to tools, as well as in the green rolling farmland and hills of Black Earth. Conjuring up clever comedy and sporting brilliant impressions came as second nature to John. His stories and laughter will echo in the hearts of many. John is survived in life by his beloved son, Matt (Sadie) Sveum and cherished grandchildren Jack and Madison of Wauwatosa; older brothers Doug Sveum of Sun Prairie and Tom (Janet) Sveum of Janesville; also younger brother Mike Powers of Sun Prairie. Preceded in death by his father Norman Sveum, mother Endelien Powers, younger brother Sam Sveum. John's family would like to thank family and friends for all their heartfelt support and ongoing prayers in the midst of sudden sadness.  We love you all. Funeral services will be held  at 11:30 am on Tuesday, July 7th, 2009, at CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 3610 Speedway Road, Madison, with visitation from 10:00 am until the time of service. Â
