John Richard "Jack" Young

John R. “Jack” Young, of Waunakee, formerly of Wausau and Rhinelander, WI, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, September 21, 2023 at the age of 95.

Jack was born in Milwaukee on June 15, 1928 to the late Clarence and Helen (Bentz) Young. While in Wausau, he worked for Butler Paper Company and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. In 1989, he retired and moved to Rhinelander where he became active in County Government and was Chairman of Crescent Township.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing and playing pool with his friends. Jack was an avid sports fan and especially loved watching the Green Bay Packers and WI Badgers. Jack was always a social and happy man and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Survivors include his wife Beverly Young of Waunakee; son Scott (Heather) Young of Wisconsin Dells; three stepdaughters, Helen, Beverly and Jamie; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his two daughters, Lynn Stockwell and Debbie Sickels and grandson, Joel Sickels.

There will be a celebration of Jack’s life for the family members on Sunday, October 22, 2023 at 1 p.m., held at the Westshire Village Clubhouse, 5444 Westshire Circle, Waunakee.
