MAUGERI, JOSEPH

Joseph ""Tootsie Roll Joe"" Maugeri, age 79, died Monday, December 8, 2008 at HospiceCare, Inc. He was born November 3, 1929, in Ohio, the son of Salvatore and Nuncia (Brundo) Maugeri. Joe was a member of Bristol Lutheran Church where he served as an usher. Joe spent most of his spare time doing volunteer work with Bird Elementary School as a tutor, the Salvation Army and several other organizations. He received the ""Someone Special Award"" from United Way of Dane County. Joe's favorite pastime was mowing his daughter's lawn and reading his Bible.

On March 8, 1952, Joe was united in marriage with Marlene Kelm in New Philadelphia, Ohio. In addition to his wife Marlene, survivors include 1 daughter: Pamela (Larry) Wood of Marshall, 3 grandchildren: Joshua (Theresa) Wood, Adam (Bettsy) Wood and Ryan (Lindsay) Wood; 2 great grandchildren: Gavin and Nolan; 4 sisters: Joanne, Ida, Annie and Rosie and many other beloved relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents,a son Michael and 4 sisters.

Friends may call from5 -- 7 pm Wednesday, December 10 at the CRESS FUNERAL HOME where services will be held at 7:00 pm. Reverend Jonathon Baker will officiate. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to HospiceCare, Inc. The family also extends a special thank you to the staff of HospiceCare for the loving care and exceptional services they provided for Joe.
