Joseph Vitale

Madison Joseph Alfonso Vitale 90, loving father and brother left this world Friday January 18, 2013, he was surrounded by his beloved children. Joseph is preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Donna (Pearson); his father, Francesco Vitale; his mother Vincenza Troia Vitale; brother John Vitale; and sister Rosalie Scamardo. Joseph is survived by his six children Christine Vitale (Anthony Paule) of San Francisco, CA; Cathleen Raemisch (Carl) Verona; Nanci Jo, Madison; Joseph (Mary Heilman), Madison; David (Jill Bakken) Watertown; and Michael (Pam Brauer), Madison; eleven grandchildren, Cory Storkson (Heather),North Carolina; Joseph Storkson (Amber), Cross Plains; Jonathan Vitale,Madison; Michelle Stafford (Peter), Madison; Quincy Raemisch, Milwaukee; Veronica Raemisch (Nathan Brooks), Verona; Ellen, and Claire Vitale, Watertown; and Luke, Max and Sam, Madison; three great-grandchildren, Emerson, Isabella, & Olivia Storkson; brother Jerome Vitale and sister Rosalie Vanderbilt, King, WI; and Sister-in-law Dolores Teas, Indianola, Iowa.

Born November 24, 1922 in Madison, and raised in the richly diverse Greenbush neighborhood, Joseph was a devout Catholic who was very proud of his Italian/Sicilian heritage. Joseph served in the American Air Force during World War II, and was a member of VFW Post 1318. A lover of nature and sports, Joseph was a kind man whose good spirits and humor touched the hearts of everyone he met. A private, Catholic service will be held Thursday, January 24, 2013. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St Mary's Care Center, Madison, and VFW Post 1318, Madison. Dad, we miss you and love you.
