Josephine Proudfit Lobb Clarke

Virginia Beach, VA / Madison, WI - Josephine Proudfit Lobb Clarke, a daughter of the late Mary M. Lobb and John C. Lobb, died May 24, 2010, inVirginia Beach, Virginia, after a brave battle with cancer. She was born in Rochester, Minnesota, then attended Randall School in Madison and graduated from West High in 1955. She attended the University of Wisconsin, where she was a member of the Delta Gamma Sorority, studied for a year in Florence, Italy, and then graduated some years later from Virginia Wesleyan College. Josephine had a long career in health care in Virginia Beach, where she lived for over 40 years. She was a member of the Colonial Dames (Wisconsin Society), and in recent years was a member of the alumni board of Virginia Wesleyan. She was also a generous supporter of the Virginia Symphony. Josephine enjoyed sailing and skiing as well as music, and she was also a gracious hostess, often welcoming friends to her home. She is survived by her husband, Bruce W. Clarke of Norfolk; her two sons: John Marshall Adamson (Janet Albano) and daughters Mimi Albano and Alyssa Adamson, all of Virginia Beach, & Robert Montgomery Adamson (Andrea Zeitman) of McLean, Va; her sister, Carol Lobb Kimball (the late David W. Kimball) of St. Louis, and her children (David C. Kimball & his wife Laura Arnold of St. Louis, & Mary M. Kimball & her husband Daniel D. Fey of Seattle) as well as 4 great-nephews & 1 great-niece. She is also survived by her aunt, Isabel Lobb Jones, of Charles Town, WV. A funeral was held May 27, 2010 in Virginia Beach. A graveside service and interment will be held at Forest Hill Cemetery, 1 Speedway Road, Madison on Saturday, June 12, 2010 at 2PM. For further information, contact Cress Funeral Home.
