Josephine Meier

Middleton: Josephine R. Meier, age 85, passed away Sunday, July 27, 2014 at Agrace HospiceCare in Fitchburg.
Josephine was born May 23, 1929 the daughter of Barnabas and Josephine A. (Pechan) Stupfel in Mazomanie. She was united in marriage to Wilfred Meier on November 25, 1947. Josephine was a farm wife, and later worked for the State of Wisconsin as an accounting clerk. She liked to play cards, knit, crochet, dance, read and crafting. She enjoyed making rosaries, and enjoyed volunteering for the Red Cross, St. Mary's Care Center, and at the Madison Catholic Multi-Cultural Center. Josephine was a faithful member of St. Bernard Catholic Church, the St. Bernard 5-0 club, Rosary Makers, and the Catholic Knights. Following retirement, Wilfred and Josephine settled in Middleton. Wilfred preceded her in death August 23, 2013.
Josephine is survived by her children, Edward (Cathy) Meier, Jane Meier (Tim Pimentel), Winifred Meier-Oakes (Tim), Paul (Thelma) Meier, Debra Jensen, Nick (Heidi) Meier, Dennis (Kristen) Meier; 11 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; and sisters, Theresa Gierl, and Frances Schneider. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Wilfred, brother, Philip Stupfel, and sisters, Sr. Barnabas Stupfel, Sr. Eulalia Stupfel, and Isabel Jensen.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. BERNARD CATHOLIC CHURCH, 7450 University Ave., Middleton at 12:00 pm on Thursday, July 31, 2014, with Rev Msgr. Douglas Dushack presiding. Visitation will be from 9am until 11:30 am on Thursday, July 31, 2014 at the church. In lieu of flowers memorial donations in Josephine's name may be made to St. Bernard Parish, The Madison Catholic Multicultural Center, or the charity of one's choice.
