Josie Evenson

Stoughton- Josie M. Evenson, age 100, passed away on Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at Skaalen Home. She was born on the family farm on September 10, 1911, the daughter of Ole and Malena (Midthun) Hauge. Josie attended Rinden School and worked on the family farm. She was a longtime member of West Koshkonong Lutheran Church and active in the Ladies Aide. Josie enjoyed playing crocket and euchre, and making doilies. Most of all she enjoyed working, especially on the farm with her siblings and for the Wahlin family as their housekeeper. Josie is survived by her daughter, Marilyn (Rudy) Rommelfanger-Waltz; three grandchildren, Linda Wake, Mark Wake and Victoria Rommelfanger-Zientek; 10 great grandchildren; six great great grandchildren; sister, Tilla Schmudlach; brother, George Hauge; numerous nieces and nephews; and many relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ernest Evenson; and seven siblings. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, January 2, 2012 at Skaalen Chapel, 400 N. Morris Street, Stoughton, with Rev. Richard Dowling officiating. Friends and relatives are invited to a luncheon immediately following the services in Friendship Circle. Burial will take place in West Koshkonong Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10:30 AM until the time of services on Monday. A special thank you to the staff of Skaalen and to Pastor Dowling for his many visits.
