Joyce Harrington Hinds ("Joy") was born on August 15th, 1930 to Johnny Harrington and Margaret Sweeney in Arena, Wisconsin. She told everyone she met that she's 100% Irish and proved it by singing and dancing with the rest of the Harrington Clan.
Joy and her husband, Bobby "Sugar" Hinds of boxing fame, started the Lifeline Jump Rope Company in 1974 in the backyard of their little house on Regent st. It flourished into an international business. In 1983 they donated product to help launch the Jump Rope for Heart promotion of the American Heart Association which is still going on today.
Later in life, Joy and Bob purchased the 150 year old Sawle Farm in Arena where Joy had played as a child. They restored the house and barn and today it is the successful Sugarland Wedding venue.
