Judith (Judy) Ann Brantzeg, 85, of Baraboo, WI, passed away peacefully on April
28th, 2024, at Maplewood of Sauk City. Judy Mankiewicz was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on October 16th, 1938 to Christian and Dorothy Mankiewicz. After graduating from Milwaukee Lutheran High School in 1957, Judy married Gerald E. Brantzeg on September 14th, 1957 at Zion Lutheran Church in Milwaukee and later purchased their first home in Menomonee Falls. In 1992, they made the decision to move to Tomahawk where they enjoyed many years there with a group of very special friends. Jerry and Judy enjoyed traveling together and visited many different places such as the Grand Canyon, Hawaii, and Disney World being some of Judy’s favorites. In 2001 they then moved to Prairie du Sac to be closer to family and became members of St. James Lutheran Church.
Judy is remembered for spending her time doing what she loved most such as visits to the casino for bingo, sewing, playing cards (Cribbage and Sheepshead being her favorite games), having a Southern Comfort Old Fashioned, camping, and traveling, making it to all the Wisconsin State parks with her favorite place to camp being The Playful Goose in Horicon. She enjoyed nothing more than spending time with her family, especially spending Wednesday evenings catching up with her daughter Lora sharing a glass of wine. Judy’s final earthly residence was at Oak Park Place in Baraboo where she enjoyed her independent living for eight short months. The Lord then called and opened his arms to her bringing her home to Heaven, where she now walks with Jesus and has been reunited with her late husband Jerry.
Judy is predeceased by her parents, Christian and Dorothy Mankiewicz, her loving husband Jerry, as well as by her great granddaughter, Alison Wick. She is survived by her two daughters Christine Brantzeg and Lora (Edwin) Roland, as well as one brother James (Lourdine) Mankiewicz, son-in-law Ronald Wick, grandchildren Steven Wick, Bryan Wick, Julia Roland, Adam Roland, Alyssa Roland, and great-grandchildren, Leah and Miles Wick.
The funeral service will take place at St James Lutheran Church, 415 Washington Street, Prairie du Sac, WI, on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, at 4:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. James Lutheran Church.
Judy was a child of God, a loving and faithful wife, a mother, a grandmother, and a great-grandmother, but most of all, our Best Friend. We will see you later. No Regrets.
We welcome you to share your memories here on Judy's tribute wall.
