Judith Charlene Rundell, devoted wife, mother, and daughter, age 81, of Madison, passed away on June 13 th , 2022. Judy, a lifelong Madison resident, was born May 29, 1941.
Judy was a graduate of West High School class of 1959. She met the love of her life Jim, also a lifelong Madison resident, at a Madison combined Junior High city dance. They married May 7, 1960. During the 60s and early 70s Judy was a fulltime and extraordinary homemaker and mother. As her sons grew older, she re-entered the workforce spending many years working in Pediatrics at the former Jackson Clinic. Later, she joined her husband and eventually son Jon, in the family business, Rundell’s Menswear.
Judy loved gardening, floral arranging and decorating her home for every holiday. She loved to cook and often trialed new recipes from ladies’ magazines, which were often jokingly critiqued by the family. Judy and Jim spent lots of time in their boats, where she enjoyed simultaneously fishing and reading. She adored her many fur babies and treated them like actual children. Later, she enjoyed both exercise and socialization with her ladies at the UW warm water pool program. In her final years, she spent hours lovingly watching the many birds and other critters that would gather to feed just outside her windows.
Judy is survived by her devoted husband of 62 years, Jim, and sons Jim (Scott) and Jon. She was preceded in death by her parents, Emmett and Bonnie Ward; and brother, Wayne Ward.
A private service will be held. Contributions in Judy’s name may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association of Madison.
