Judith "Judy" Mclean

February 15, 1944 — January 29, 2021

**DUE TO INCLEMENT WEATHER, THE FUNERAL SERVICES OF JUDY MCLEAN HAVE BEEN POSTPONED TO FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 5TH, 2021**

MIDDLETON - Judith “Judy” Kay McLean, age 76, of Middleton passed away after a long battle with cancer on Friday, January 29, 2021 in her home surrounded by family. She was born on February 15, 1944 in Merrimac WI, the daughter of Arthur and Helen (Gierman) McLean.

Judy grew up on the family farm in Merrimac with her parents and five siblings. Judy graduated in 1962 from Baraboo High School. Judy raised three children and her life revolved around them and their activities.

Judy was a longtime State of Wisconsin employee, starting at Employee Trust Funds in 1975, then joining the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1989 where she started working as Payroll & Benefits Manager. At the time of retirement, she was a Research Analyst. After 36 years with the state she decided to retire to spend time with her children and grandchildren in 2011.

Judy’s passion was in genealogy where she traced her family tree back hundreds of years to Scotland and Germany and connected with family members. She was also an avid sports fan, attending so many of her children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events and loved to watch games on tv, especially baseball. Her quick wit and knowledge of the game made her a joy to watch a baseball game with as she always provided a unique insight.

Judy was fortunate enough to also have grandchildren that she could teach about life and the importance of family.  She was close to her siblings and their families and enjoyed family reunions and spending time talking with them.  Judy loved to read and frequently shared information that she found relevant to her family and friends. She always put everyone else’s needs ahead of her own and was selfless to the very end.

Judy is survived by her children, Andrew (Mafmudije Selimi) Winn, Christine (Steve) Smith, and Brian Winn; her grandchildren, Michael and Zachary Winn, Olivia Smith, Sarah (Corey Protz) Smith; and great-grandchildren, Kayla, Jose, Junior, and Jason. She is also survived by her five siblings, John (JoAnn) McLean, Carol (Jerry) McAdow, Ronnie (Janet) McLean, Merle (Brenda) McLean, and Joanne (Tim) Drahnak; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Judy was preceded in death by her parents.

We would like to thank the staff at GHC, especially Dr. Urtes and Tami; the staff at the UW Carbone Center, especially Dr. Spencer; and the staff at Agrace Hospice Care, especially Michelle, Jessica, Jessie, and Sarah. We also want to thank mom’s friend, Dana Coshenet for all of her support to our mom.

Funeral services will be held at Cress Funeral Home at 6021 University Ave, Madison, WI on FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 5, 2021 at 11am. Friends may greet the family from 10am until the time of service. Burial will follow the funeral at Indian Farm Cemetery in Merrimac. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the UW Carbone Cancer Center
