Judy McLellan Furseth

January 1, 1941 — April 14, 2024

Stoughton

Judy Annette (McLellan) Furseth, age 83, of Stoughton, WI, left this earth April 14, 2024. She was born to Gerald and Lauretta (Meister) Rohr on Jan. 1, 1941, in Binghamton, N.Y. At the age of 6, her family moved to Battle Creek, Michigan where she grew up. She attended Lakeview High School, Western Michigan University and Lilah School of Radiology. In 1967 she married Jerry A. McLellan while he was in the service at Presidio, S.F. After his service, they came back to previous jobs in Flint, MI. Jerry’s company relocated them regularly with moves to Ann Arbor, MI, Manistee, MI, Evansville, IN, Stow, OH, Kalamazoo, MI, and Howell MI. The last move brought them to Madison, WI settling in Stoughton, WI where they chose to stay and raise their two girls. Judy worked in radiology in most places while raising their family.

In Wisconsin, she heard about a new program at the University of WI called Ultrasound. It was a new modality of imaging, and she was lucky to be accepted into the program. Upon graduation, her husband and Madison Radiologists started a new business called Shared Imaging Services, providing Ultrasound and Nuclear Services for Radiologists in their outlying hospitals. Judy led the Ultrasound Department, helping get the company started. This is where she found her niche, performing Ultrasound exams for more than 30 years in this ever-growing company. She loved the challenge of examining every new patient.

Aside from her job, she loved her family, animals of all kinds and nature, enjoying daily walks and meditating with God in his amazing world. Water was always a part of Judy’s immediate world, be it on it, in it or beside it, it was the source of contentment for Judy.

Her husband passed away unexpectedly in 2003.

In 2008, she married Jerry Furseth. They spent winters in Florida and the rest of the year in their home on the Rock River. They enjoyed 15 wonderful years together. Although it wasn’t nearly enough, the time they had was worth a lifetime.

She was involved in many activities. Singing in the 1st Lutheran Choir for many years was a joy. A member of the Blockheads Quilting Group was just as enjoyable. Quilting became her main hobby over the years. While she’d sewn for years, she developed a passion for this hobby that drove and strengthened her through her final days.

After retirement, she enjoyed meeting up routinely with her Shared Imaging gals and volunteered at Stoughton Hospital.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter Katherine, and her husband Jerry McLellan. She is survived by her “fantastic, beloved, the best” husband, Jerry Furseth, daughters Jodie McLellan and Wendy Muth (Peter) and granddaughter, Olivia Muth; stepchildren, Jerry (Karen) McLellan, Rick (Sharon) McLellan, Tari (Mike) Barber, Jeff (Dawna) Furseth, Justine (Nate) LaCross, Jay (Sarah) Furseth, and many grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
