McFarland- Julia M. Holverson, age 101, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday, December 1, 2009 at MariAnne's Elder House in McFarland. Â She was born on a farm in Rio on October 3, 1908 the fifth of six children to Charles and Margaret (Meider) Holly. Â Julia graduated from Rio High School in 1927, attended Normal Teachers College in Columbus and taught in country schools in Columbia County for four years. Â On November 26, 1934 she married Richard L. Holverson in Galesville. Â Together the family moved to Edwards Park in McFarland in 1942. Â Julia worked for the State of WI Department of Motor Vehicles for 27 years until her retirement in 1971. Â She is survived by her daughter, Mary (Bob) Horton of McFarland; daughter-in-law, Carol Holverson of Stoughton; eight grandchildren, Jeff (Misty) Holverson, John (Mindy) Holverson Jr., Joe Holverson, Jack (Dawn) Holverson, Tim (Carolyn) Horton, Julie Horton, Rick (Tammy) Horton and Cari (Kim Frank) Horton; nine great-grandchildren, Kyle, Curtis, Steve, Sam, Joseph, Joshua, Tristan, Travis and Sadie; and many nieces and nephews. Â Julia was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Richard; her son, John; and two brothers and three sisters, and their spouses. Â Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, December 5, 2009 at McFarland Lutheran Church, 5529 Marsh Road, McFarland, with Rev. Jerry Pribbenow officiating. Â Friends and family are invited to a luncheon immediately following the services at church. Â Burial will take place in Ohio Cemetery in Rio. Â Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until the time of service on Saturday. Â A special thank you to the staff of MariAnne's Elder House and HospiceCare Inc.
