McFarland- Julie T. Sornson, age 40, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on Thursday, August 30, 2012, surrounded by her family, at Agrace HospiceCare in Fitchburg. She was born in Madison on July 25, 1972, a daughter of Tom and Linda (Mislivecek) Coon. On August 7, 2004, she was united in marriage to Brad Sornson. Julie was a free spirit who did things her own way. She had an amazing sense of humor, a beautiful smile, and an infectious laugh. She loved purple, and everything had to be purple for her. She enjoyed country music. Julie is remembered as a warm and thoughtful person who cared about others and was always interested in what was going on in lives of her family and many friends. She loved animals, especially her dog, Junior.
Julie is survived by her husband, Brad; daughter, Tori Cooper; son, Joshua Pyke; mother, Linda Coon; and many aunts, uncles and cousins who loved her very much. She was preceded in death by her father, Tom; brother, John; and special uncle and aunt, Jim and Judy Mislivecek.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at the Cress Funeral Home in McFarland, with Celebrant, James Borlaug officiating. Burial will follow at Upper McFarland Cemetery. The family will greet friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm, again on Wednesday from 10:00 am until the time of service at 11:00, and following the burial at a reception at the Maple Tree in McFarland.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Dane County Humane Society.
