June E. Oien

Sun Prairie-June E. Oien, age 86, passed away peacefully on July 24, 2011 at the Sterling House, Sun Prairie. She was born on December 22, 1924 in Madison the daughter of Charles & Thora (Osterlie) Hommen. June was united in marriage with Dr. Robert Oien on April 10, 1948 at Liberty Prairie Lutheran Church, Deerfield. Mrs. Oien was a longtime resident of Sun Prairie. She was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Sun Prairie and of the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary, Sun Prairie. June in her spare time enjoyed dancing, animals (especially cats), shopping and travelling the world. She also enjoyed spending winters in Arizona which she and her husband did for 8 years. June was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother who's most important thing in her life was her family and friends. June is survived by her husband of 63 years, Dr. Robert Oien; her sons, Gary (Claudine) Oien, Madison, Wayne (Charla) Oien, Cresent Springs, KY, Steve (Denise) Oien, Galesville and Greg (Evelyn) Oien, Poynette; her foster daughters, Darlene (Jack) Darland, Oshkosh, Kathy (Darold) Hanusa, Madison and Jackie (Roberto) Ruiz, Elgin, IL; her grandchildren, Brenda & Garret; Step-grandchildren, Stefany, Max, Nicole and Jenifer; Step-great-grandson, Izayah; her brother, Donald ""Bud"" (Betty) Hommen, Cambridge; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, July 26, 2011 at 5:00p.m. at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, 505 Lincoln Dr., Sun Prairie with Rev. Dr. David J. Berggren officiating. A time of gathering will be held on Tuesday at the church one hour prior to service. A reception will follow service in the church's fellowship hall.
