Deforest- Karen F. Holmes, age 72, of Deforest passed away on March 13, 2016.
She was born on July 26, 1943 to Francis, Sr. and Arlene (Gage) Ruland in Mauston. She graduated from Tomah High School in 1961.
She met and married Jerry Holmes, Sr. on February 9, 1963, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Tomah. They lived in Madison then moved to DeForest in 1976. She worked for the telephone company in Tomah until graduating then moved to Madison and worked at the telephone company until 1963. Karen took a few years off to raise their children. She worked for 20 years at Verex. She then worked at Pick'n Save in DeForest for 18 years where she retired.
She was a devoted mother and grandmother.
Karen is survived by her husband of 53 years, Jerry, Sr. of DeForest, her loving daughter, Jacqueline, two wonderful sons, Jerry, Jr. (Velvet) and Bryon. Her grandchild Griffyn, who was the apple of her eye. Her brothers Francis, Jr. (Jean) Ruland of Warrens and Alois (Cheri) Ruland of Chippewa Falls, and her sisters Rita (Robert) Uchytil of Riverview, Florida, and Rose (Hans) Gulick of King George, Virginia. Many nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her sisters Diane (Bob) Steele and Kitty Ruland.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 19, 2016 at 11:00 am at Cress Funeral Home, 1310 Emerald Terrace, Sun Prairie, WI 53590, with Reverend George Kaminski officiating. A visitation will be held from 10:00 am until the time of service.
The family requests that no gifts be given.
