Karen Holte

December 6, 1923 — August 14, 2011

Stoughton- Karen (Hull) Holte, age 87, peacefully went to sleep with Jesus on Sunday, August 14, 2011 at home surrounded by her family. She was one of 8 children born to Max and Josephine (Nelson) Hull. Karen married Helmer Holte in June, 1943. Karen was a life- long member of Christ Lutheran Church and a teacher in the Stoughton schools until retirement in 1986. She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Helmer; daughter, Judy (Russ) Hutter of Rhinelander; AFS daughter, Ingiborg Haroldsdottir of Iceland; son-in-law Peter Swenson of Madison; three grandchildren, Amy Jones (Ed Simon), Ben Jones and Josie Swenson; four great grandchildren, Zoe and Eli Simon and Sawyer and Abbey Jones; sister, Patsy (Greg) Swenson; one sister-in-law, Francis (Paul) May. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. Karen was preceded in death by her dear daughter, Trudy Swenson, in 1994; as well as two brothers and four sisters. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at Christ Lutheran Church in Stoughton, with Rev. Scott Geister-Jones officiating. Burial will follow in the Eastside Cemetery. Friends and relatives are invited to a luncheon at church following the burial. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services. A special thanks to Stoughton Hospital Day Surgery, HospiceCare Inc. and Stoughton Home Health for all their care and support. An additional special thanks to Pastor Scott and Pastor Rem for their many prayers and visits.
