Stoughton- Karen V. Jones, age 83, passed away at her home in Stoughton surrounded by her family on Tuesday, October 21, 2008. She was born in Stoughton on January 29, 1925, a daughter of the late Emil Conrad and Florence Hazel (Long) Erickson. She was united in marriage to Warden Jones on February 17, 1946 in Madison. Karen was a lifelong homemaker, and enjoyed gardening, baking, cooking and sewing. She was very dedicated to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, and was always there to listen. She had the gift of being strong and courageous while staying kind and gentle. She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church and active in the Rachel circle there. She is survived by three children, Terry (Brenda) Jones of Jefferson; Linda (Donald) Quam of Stoughton; and Cindy Jones of Stoughton; nine grandchildren, Amy Jones, Lisa Peot, Ben Jones, Sarah McDonnell, Lance, Branden, Corey and Shane Jones, and Paul Quam; six great grandchildren, Zoe and Eli Simon, Sawyer and Abbey Jones, Dylan Peot and Nicholas McDonnell; a brother, Ed (Ginny) Erickson; two sisters, Tootsie (Melvin) Alme and Florence Short, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Warden in 1999, sons Phillip and Stuart Jones, two sisters, Alda May Felio and Bonnie Tenjum; and a brother, Sonny Erickson. Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 24, 2008 at 11:00 am at Christ Lutheran Church, 700 County Hwy B in Stoughton with the Rev. Scott Geister-Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Eastside Cemetery in Stoughton. The family will greet friends at church on Friday from 10 am until the time of service.
