Karen T. Wood, beloved wife, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 23, 2023, at Oakwood Village Hebron. She was born on September 22, 1951, in Milwaukee, WI, to the late Robert and Dorothy Tubesing.
Karen's life was marked by her kindness, compassion, and unwavering love for her family and friends. She leaves behind a legacy of warmth and generosity that will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Karen graduated from Brookfield Central High School in 1969, where she excelled both academically and socially. Following her passion for business, she went on to earn a Bachelor's degree from UW Wisconsin Business School in 1973. Her commitment to education was admirable, and she continued to broaden her horizons throughout her life. She became a lifelong Badger fan as a result.
An exemplary wife and partner, Karen shared a beautiful marriage lasting 50 years with her loving husband Peter. Their bond was a source of inspiration for all who witnessed their enduring love. Peter will forever carry Karen's memory in his heart.
In addition to Peter, Karen is survived by her brother Richard Tubesing and sister Donna Helm. They were not only siblings but also lifelong confidants who experienced the joys and challenges of life together. Karen's presence will be deeply missed by Richard and Donna.
Karen also leaves behind three nieces and three nephews who admired their aunt for her kindness and support throughout their lives. Her gentle wisdom guided them through various endeavors, making an indelible impact on their paths. Additionally, Karen is survived by four grandnephews and four grandnieces who held a special place in her heart.
A visitation service to celebrate Karen's life will be held at Midvale Community Lutheran Church in Madison on November 1st, 2023. The visitation will take place from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM followed by a Memorial Service at 11:00 AM. The church, located at 4329 Tokay Blvd, will serve as a gathering place for family and friends to share their memories, stories, and pay their respects.
Karen lived a life centered around love and giving. Her memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Midvale Community Lutheran Church or the Carbone Cancer Center at U.W. Hospital. The family would also like to express their heartfelt thanks to the staff of Oakwood Village for the exemplary care that was provided to Karen during her brief stay.
