Kathleen Lee

June 10, 1934 — July 29, 2014

MADISON - Kathleen "Kay" R. Lee, age 80, passed away peacefully on Tuesday July 29,
2014 at Saint Mary's hospital with her loving son and family at her bedside. Kay bravely battled juvenile diabetes for 63 years. However it was a courageous fight against cancer that took her to heaven.
Support from family and friends as well as stalwart faith in God kept her going through her ordeal.

Born at Saint Mary's hospital, the daughter of Albert and Rose Lee on June 10, 1934. Living in Sun Prairie for her first 8 years then moving to Madison which was forever home. Kay enjoyed a Catholic Education at Holy Redeemer grade school then graduated from Edgewood High School Of The Sacred Heart in 1952. Kay worked in various retail positions including at Carmen's, Woldenberg's, Kay Campbell's, and as manager at Madison Coin and Stamp. She enjoyed interacting with people and took pride in helping them.

Kay's greatest characteristic was her service to others. She was always willing to help anyone who needed her to the best of her ability. Kay was Den Mother to the Cub Scouts, active in the PTA, fund raiser for various charities, and could always be counted on to volunteer and help out on the next school project. A caring and compassionate woman, she devoted 18 years to round the clock care for her ill and invalid mother, Rose Lee.

Kay enjoyed playing cards, chess and board games. She was a country music fan, avid reader and classic film buff. Baking was a hobby, never a chore, which she always enjoyed sharing with others.

A deeply religious woman who loved to spread the word of God, but not in a preachy fashion. She was an active member in St. Patrick's Congregation until being shut in. Her time spent watching Apostolate to the Handicapped, and her Love of the Virgin Mary kept her close to the heart of God.

Kay is survived by her son Bob Lee and her only remaining sister, Doris (Wes) Swamer of Racine, Wi; as well as 9 nieces and nephews.
Courageous cheerful and beloved she will be missed by relatives and friends, as well as anyone who had the good fortune to meet her.

Preceding her in death were her 4 brothers: Rodney, age 35 in 1956; Garth, age 29 in 1960; Robert, age 48 in 1966; and, Duane, age 53 in 1979; her 2 sisters: Norma Patteron, age 52 in 1974; and, Orrie Buckley, age 79 in 2002, and all of their spouses. As well as 3 nephews: Timothy Patterson, age 7 in 1958; Roger Lee, age 25 in 1969; and, Robert E. Lee Jr, age 17 in 1970.
