Kathleen Jay Orvis

  SUN PRAIRIE ORVIS, KATHLEEN ""KATHY"" Kathy J. Orvis, age 48, died Wednesday, September 24, 2008 in a Madison hospital, after a courageous battle with cancer.  She was born January 30, 1960, in Madison, the daughter of Ernest and Dorthea (Graves) Kreger, Jr.  Kathy had been employed by Goodyear Tire, in Sun Prairie, for the past 15 years.  She was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church and the United Steel Workers Union.  In her spare time, Kathy enjoyed gardening and reading.  She was a noted Packers and Badgers fan, as well as, a NASCAR enthusiast.  On August 11, 1990, Kathy was united in marriage with John Orvis in Sun Prairie. Survivors include her husband John, son Jeremy Kreger and  daughter Amanda Orvis all of Sun Prairie; her mother Dorthea Kreger and sisters: Sharon (Steve) Kalscheuer and Cindy Kreger all of DeForest;  brother Steven (Sandy) Kreger of Waunakee; her mother-in-law Evelyn Orvis of Madison;  sister-in-law Karen Wilcox of Lake Delton and  brothers-in-law Michael (Sue) Orvis of Baraboo and James (Kathy) Orvis of Madison, as well as, numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her father Ernest Kreger and her father-in-law Gene Orvis. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 pm Monday, September 29 at the CRESS FUNERAL HOME where friends may call from 1:00 pm until time of service.  Reverend Dr. David Berggren will officiate.  In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials in Kathy's name.  Condolences may be sent to CressFuneralService.com.
