Kathleen Sprenger

Kathleen (Kathi) Kay Sprenger (nee Tuschl) was born to eternal life on Friday, October 20th in Madison, WI. 

Kathi, the oldest of four children, grew up in Manitowoc, WI.  After graduating from Manitowoc Lincoln High School, Kathi moved to Milwaukee where she worked as a phlebotomist.  Shortly after graduation she survived a severe car accident.  During her recovery she received a letter from her childhood friend and neighbor Alan Sprenger.  Al and Kathi reconnected, quickly fell in love, and married in 1968.  They remained devoted to each other for 55 years.

After college the couple moved to Denver and then to San Francisco.  While in California Kathi gave birth to their first child, a daughter, Jessica.  Their family then moved to Columbus, OH before returning to Wisconsin and settling in Appleton, where Kathi gave birth to their son, Tyler.  As a young family they spent their time between sporting events and their cabin in northern Wisconsin.  Kathi and Al would often visit their children in Madison, where both children attended UW-Madison.

Kathi loved music and had a beautiful voice.  She loved flowers and knew everything about them.  Later in life Kathi began to paint and created artwork worthy of a gallery.  She was also an avid reader.  Kathi and Al loved to travel, especially to warm weather.  Some of her favorite destinations included Puerto Vallarta, London, Barcelona, and Turkey.

Kathi is survived by her loving husband Alan, her two children Jessica (Chris) Schulenburg and Tyler (Susan) Sprenger, five grandchildren (Noah, Nora, Max, Natalie, Elsa), her two sisters Julie (Larry) Wood and Heidi (Gary) Skaar, and several loving nieces and nephews.  She is preceded in death by her parents Bob and Marian Tuschl, and her brother Mark Tuschl.

Kathi will be greatly missed by all.

Memorial services have been set for Monday, October 30 at Cress Funeral Home, 3610 Speedway Road, Madison, WI 53705.  There will be a visitation from 1-3pm and the service will begin at 3pm. A reception to follow at 4pm will be held at another location.
